I investigate the gap between what products and platforms intend and what people actually encounter. I turn those findings into clearer systems, safer experiences, and working products.

Case Study 01 · Social CommerceFeatured

Youth Safety on Social Commerce Platforms

What happens when a platform's age controls promise protection, but ordinary social-commerce features still create a pathway to age-restricted product offers?
Youth SafetyPlatform IntegrityFTC Section 5EU DSAUK Online Safety Act
6Stages in the documented pathway—from discovery to an off-platform purchase opportunity
6Product-control opportunities across discovery, amplification, interaction, notifications, seller access, and repeat-account enforcement
DocumentedThrough dated observations of publicly accessible platform features
May 2025Public-interface observation and analysis period

Core finding

Content removal alone may not address a pathway created through ordinary product features. Search, recommendations, comments, notifications, seller access, and repeat-account behavior can combine to expose younger users to age-restricted product offers. Effective intervention requires coordinated product, policy, engineering, operations, and legal controls.

What the study includes

  • Six-stage current-state and proposed-state journey analysis
  • Three hypothetical youth-risk archetypes
  • Comparative interface concepts and product-control wireframes
  • Carefully scoped regulatory and policy relevance
  • Privacy, fairness, false-positive, and evasion considerations
  • Phased implementation framework with validation criteria

Fintech Onboarding and Account-Takeover Prevention

How should a financial platform prevent known-compromised passwords from becoming valid credentials—and protect sensitive actions after onboarding?
Account SecurityNIST GuidanceGLBA SafeguardsFTC Safeguards RuleFraud Prevention
5Layered control families spanning registration, authentication, sessions, transactions, and recovery
LayeredNo single breach check, password rule, or authentication method eliminates account-takeover risk
Risk-basedSecurity friction increases when a login, recovery attempt, account, or transaction presents greater risk
MeasurableControls are paired with security, usability, operational, and privacy validation criteria

Core finding

A breached email address does not prove that a user's current credentials are compromised. The stronger intervention is to prevent known-compromised passwords, establish proportionate authentication, identify suspicious sessions, protect high-risk transactions, and secure account recovery.

What the study includes

  • Five-layer account-takeover threat and control model
  • Three hypothetical onboarding-risk archetypes
  • Current-state and safer-state journey maps
  • Password, passkey, MFA, session, and transaction concepts
  • Recovery, accessibility, privacy, and false-positive considerations
  • Phased implementation and validation framework

Product Claims and Marketplace Risk

Where do product labels, listings, advertising claims, marketplace policies, and consumer expectations fall out of alignment?

Independent analysis across FDA, FTC, CPSC, and category-specific requirements. The research informed ProductGuard, an AI-assisted pre-screening tool for regulatory and marketplace risk signals.

Case Study 04 · Rideshare

Rideshare Safety and Policy Implementation

How much of a platform's safety policy is reflected in the real experience of drivers and passengers?

An operator-informed assessment of communication, visibility, identity, coordination, and safety gaps in high-friction rideshare workflows—grounded in eight years of firsthand platform experience.

AI Output Evaluation and Context Sensitivity

How can changes in framing alter the way an AI system interprets substantially similar intent?

Independent evaluation of context-sensitive model behavior, edge cases, guardrail consistency, and regulatory implications, including structured testing and responsible disclosure where appropriate.

How I Work

Research rigor.
Builder urgency.

I am strongest where ambiguity crosses product, policy, users, and operations. I do not stop at identifying a problem; I structure the evidence, locate the root cause, and translate it into an implementable response.

Find the real failure mode

Separate symptoms from the product, policy, incentive, or workflow decision that created them.

Connect multiple viewpoints

Balance user harm, business constraints, regulatory expectations, and technical feasibility.

Make evidence usable

Turn screenshots, observations, claims, and rules into prioritized findings and decision-ready narratives.

Build the intervention

Prototype workflows, tools, and product changes instead of leaving recommendations trapped in reports.

Products Built

Research that became working software.

These products demonstrate product judgment, rapid learning, workflow design, AI integration, and execution from concept through deployment.

ProductGuardCompliance intelligence

AI-assisted pre-screening for consumer product labels, listings, and marketing claims, designed to surface high-priority regulatory and marketplace risk signals.
